Regular maintenance is the key to your HVAC system’s longevity. Finding an inefficiency in the system is usually less costly than waiting until it stops functioning altogether. If maintenance on your system is something you don’t want to think about, consider the EZ Breezy Club from Easy A/C. You’re entitled to a semi-annual 16-point inspection of your AC system. You also receive discounts on service, parts, and priority scheduling. For Floridians that’s a lifesaver in August’s heat if your AC goes out.
Your heater is no different and requires routine maintenance as well. Don’t wait to think about it until you’re cold and the system doesn’t seem to be working properly. Keeping up with heating maintenance is important in maintaining a well-running system.
Here are a few things you can do on your own to prepare for cooler (outside) temps:
Take a Look at Your Filter
Clean or replace your air filter. It’s important to do this monthly as a clogged filter can restrict airflow and place undue stress on your HVAC system.
Remove Flammable Objects from around Your Heater
If you store things around your heater during the warmer months, now is the time to remove them. There is no reason to store gasoline, old clothing, aerosol cans, or newspapers near your system.
Check the Vents
Check for obstructed vents. These blockages will restrict airflow and stress your system.
Get a Heating Inspection
Next, call in an HVAC expert to service your system before the first cold snap. It’s surprising how many AC repair companies in Tampa don’t have the skills and knowledge they need to service heaters. This is not the case with Easy A/C. Our resident heating service and repair expert, Keith Westbrook, spent fifteen years working on heating systems in the frozen north of Minnesota. If anyone knows cold down here, it’s him.
Don’t trust your heating maintenance and repair to just any Tampa A/C company. Make sure they have the knowledge to understand heating systems and diagnose the difference between a repair issue and a total replacement.
If you don’t do your homework, it’ll cost you.
Every furnace manufacturer suggests annual inspections and maintenance by a qualified technician. Plus most warranties have a stipulation rendering them null and void if proper maintenance is not done on the system annually.
What’s included in each company’s heating tune-up is different, so ask. Most companies will check the blower access door for a tight seal; check the heat exchanger for rust or corrosion; burners will be checked for ignition; they’ll check the condensate drain and trap; and check for debris around the blower wheel. Make sure you have a clear understanding of what they will (and won’t) check.
Don’t gamble on the condition of your furnace this year. Have it checked and the necessary service performed before you need to pull out the blankets. The heating and AC repair professionals at Easy A/C can help. Call them today at 813-COLDAIR.
